Selfie of the Soul is art without a filter. In this exhibition, artists present work that moves beyond the polished façades of social media. Where digital platforms often display carefully constructed images shaped by expectations and ideals, these makers choose openness. They reveal doubt and vulnerability, but also strength, individuality, and a consciously self-aware gaze.

The exhibition consists of a series of solo presentations, each revealing a different facet of the soul. In a society that is increasingly polarized and inclined to place people into categories, Selfie of the Soul seeks art that uncovers the human being behind the mask. What happens when we approach one another not as a group or a role, but truly meet as individuals?

In Part III, six artists present their unfiltered inner worlds through solo exhibitions. Through installations, films, paintings, photographs, and more, you encounter both fleeting moments and the continuous movement of the soul. Themes such as balance and imbalance, shamelessness, incompleteness, and the transience of existence come together in these intimate presentations. The artists share their deepest layers and personal perspectives—everything flows, everything changes.

Selfie of the Soul III takes you into a fluid world and invites you to find your own place: who you wish to be, and who you truly are.

The exhibition consists of a series of solo presentations, each revealing a different side of the soul. In a society increasingly marked by polarization and categorization, Selfie of the Soul seeks art that shows the person behind the mask. What happens when we approach each other not as a group or a role, but truly as individuals?

Part II brings together a new group of artists who make the personal radically visible: from fragile installations and monumental paintings to intimate drawings and immersive spatial works. The artists explore personal memory, the body, identity, intimacy, and perception. Selfie of the Soul – Part II invites visitors to slow down, feel, and encounter their own reflection in the soul of another. These encounters and explorations can be disorienting — for both artist and viewer.

Selfie of the Soul is art without a filter. Ten artists bare it all, presenting work that transcends the polished façades of social media.

Where digital platforms often construct an image tailored to expectations, these artists reveal their doubts, vulnerability, strength, and a literally self-aware gaze.

The exhibition consists of two series of five solo presentations, each unveiling a different facet of the soul. In a society that increasingly polarizes and boxes people into categories, Selfie of the Soul seeks art that reveals the human behind the mask. What happens when we approach each other not as groups or defined roles, but in true encounter?

The participating artists explore diverse questions: Who determines who we are? How do heritage, time, and environment shape identity? Can the body serve as an instrument of the soul? Or is the soul a mirror of the people around us?

In addition to the solo presentations, a few interactive installations are part of the exhibition. One invites visitors to leave their own "selfie of the soul" through a self-portrait of their mouth.

NDSM XPO XVII WOMEN HOUSE AMSTERDAM

WOMEN HOUSE AMSTERDAM celebrates the power of feminist art while critically challenging the status of women artists, by exposing gender inequality and the persistent exclusions that still define the art world.

In the 21st century, feminist art still manifests itself as a powerful, multi-voiced language of resistance, critique and poetic disruption.

The project, which actively connects with global feminist voices, was initiated in 2024 by Brazilian artist Neyde Lantyer and Uruguayan curator and PhD architect Alejandra Muñoz. Under the name Casa de Mulheres, the first edition took place at the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (MAM-BA) in Brazil. This exhibition was a tribute to Womanhouse (1972), the first feminist exhibition in the United States, realised by artists Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro in Los Angeles.

For this second edition, the project travelled from Salvador da Bahia to Amsterdam. Here, 25 international artists from diverse backgrounds present a wide range of artistic techniques to explore the lived experiences of women. They focus on themes such as gendered labour, motherhood, racism, gender-based violence and feminicide, among others. At the same time, the female body - historically objectified, politicised and controlled - is being reclaimed as a site of strength, vulnerability and expression.

By actively claiming equality for women in art, WOMEN HOUSE AMSTERDAM joins global feminist movements fighting for women's rights. At the same time, the project also embraces decolonial, ancestral and indigenous perspectives. It dreams of a more just and equal future - rooted in solidarity and climate justice, and committed to the radical pursuit of global peace.
